The Blessed Ones

Blessed are the ones who rely on Allah
and have surrendered themselves before His will,
who are grateful in prosperity and patient in adversity.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW),

Goodness Never Goes Unrewarded

We visit with Our mercy whom We will, and
We leave not to waste the reward of those who do good.

Think Well of the Muslims

It is your duty to think well of the Muslims and to relate to them with good intentions.
Work hard to secure their general welfare.
Do not end your day with bad feeling, rancor or hatred for anyone still in your heart.
Pray for those who have wronged you, and fear Allah [Almighty and Glorious is He].

Mehboob-e-Subhani Shaikh Abd Al-Qadir Al-Jilani [may God be pleased with him]

Humility

Humility is the root, branch and consummation of all virtues,
whereby the servant attains to the stations of the righteous, those who are content with Allah is joy and in sorrow alike.
This is the perfection of piety.

Humility means that the servant never meets anyone without assuming him to be more worthy than himself.
He always say: "Perhaps he is better than I in Allah's sight, and higher is degree."

The Fleeting Pleasure and God's Recompense

That which you have been given is but the fleeting pleasure of this life.
Better and more enduring if God's recompense to those who believe and put their trust is Him;
who avoid grievous sins and lewd acts and when angered, are willing to forgive;
who obey their Lord, attend to their prayers, and conduct their affairs by mutual consent,
who give in alms from what We gave them and when oppressed, seek to redress their wrongs.

A Verse that is Enough

Abu Darr related that Rasullullah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him] said:

I know a verse which is enough for you anyone if only he could apply it:

"And whoever is careful of (his duty to) Allah, He will make for him an outlet [from every difficulty],
and provide for him from sources he never could imagine" [Quran: 65: 2-3]

Allah's Mercy!

Allah, Who is Lord of Glory, says:
"The person who does one good deed shall be given ten rewards or even more.
The person who does one evil deed shall be given only one punishment, or I shall forgive him.

When someone comes a hand's width closer to Me, I come an arm's length closer to him.
When someone comes an arm's length closer to Me, I come two arm's length closer to him.
When someone comes towards Me walking, I come to him running.

And when someone comes to Me with as many sins as the whole world could contain,
I come to him with as much forgiveness as that."

Prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]

Charity

Getting in touch with the Lord of Truth is partly a matter of
putting the poor in touch with some of your possessions.

Do your realize that charity [sadaqa] is a transaction with the Lord of Truth,
who is both Rich [Ghani] and Generous [Karim]?
And does one lose in doing business with the rich and generous?

Spend one speck of dust for the sake of Allah, and He will give you a mountain.
Spend one drop of water, and He will give you an ocean.
In this world and also int he hereafter, He will give you your recompense and your reward in full.

This World is a Marketplace

This world is a marketplace in which, after a short while, there will be no one remaining.
As night falls, its people will all depart from it.

You must be careful to sell and buy in this market only that
which will be useful to you tomorrow in the market of the hereafter,
for the Assayer [Allah] has a sharp eye [for separating good coin from bad].

Oneness [tawhid] of the Lord of Truth, sincerity [ikhlaas] in working for Him,
this is the currency in circulation over there,
and you have very little of it.

The Reality of Total Trust

The reality of total trust is detachment from material means and influential people,
and the abandonment of your own power and strength
as far as your heart and innermost being are concerned.

If you wish to be connected with Him, you must break off all other connections
and turn away from yourself and from them.
You must turn away from the product in order to reach the Producer.
As long as you stay with yourself and with them, you cannot succeed.

The nearness of the Lord of Truth [Almighty and Glorious is He]
does not tolerate overcrowding.

Mehboob-e-Subhani Shaikh Abd Al-Qadir Al-Jilani [may God be pleased with him]

Whatever You Rely on is Your god

You say: "Allahu Akbar [Allah is Supremely Great]!"
But you are lying, because in your heart you have a god other than Him.
Whatever you rely on is your god.
Everything you fear, or look to in hope, is your god.

Your heart is not in harmony with your tongue.
Your deeds do not match your words.
Say "Allahu Akbar" a thousand times with your heart and once with your tongue.

Do you not feel ashamed of saying: "La ilaaha illallaah [there is no god but Allah],
when you have a thousand objects of worship besides Him?
Repent to Allah [Almighty and Glorious is He] for everything you are involved in.

Work

You must work and make efforts, but do not rely upon work,
for he who neglects work is too ambitious,
while he who relies on work is conceited and deluded.

Mehboob-e-Subhani Shaikh Abd Al-Qadir Al-Jilani [may God be pleased with him]

Total Trust

How can you rely on what you have in your hands, when it is liable to fade away,
and abandon reliance on Allah, when He will never fade away?
Your ignorance of Him leads you to reliance of others instead of Him.
Your confidence in Him is total enrichment. Your confidence in others is total impoverishment.
.......

Total trust [in Allah] will make your heart sound, strengthen it, train it, guide it and let it have marvelous experiences.
Do not rely on your coins of silver and gold and your material means, for this will incapacitate and weaken you.
Put all your trust in Allah, for He will strengthen you, help you, treat you kindly,
grant you opportunities from sources you could never imagine, and fortify your heart.

This World

How wasteful you are of the days and the months!
You spend your lives to no good purpose.
I notice that you are not wasteful in your worldly affairs,
but you do neglect your religious obligations.
Turn this around and you will be on target!
This world has never lasted for anyone, and neither will it last for you.

Mehboob-e-Subhani Shaikh Abd Al-Qadir Al-Jilani [may God be pleased with him]

True Faith

Once a person asked the Prophet [peace and Allah's blessings be upon him],
"What is true faith?"

The Prophet replied,
"When your good endeavors bring you pleasure
and your transgressions cause you anguish,
you know that you are a person of faith."

The Beloved

O you who claim to love Allah, your love for Him cannot be considered perfect
until all other directions are closed where He is concerned, and you have only one direction left.
Your Beloved will expel from your heart all creatures between the heavenly throne and the surface of the earth,
so you will love neither this world nor the hereafter......

One day Layla's Majnun was asked: "Who are you?" "Layla," he replied.
He was blind to everything apart from her, and deaf to hearing any speech but hers.
He would not give her up because of any kind of criticism.

The Superiority of the Devout

Angels were created without lust and evil, the worst obstacles of humankind.
Those who despite their evil nature remain pious, excel angels in rank.
Enthused by their purity angels denounced the human race,
so God chose three angels to go to the earth and reform its inhabitants.
One angel, espying the corruption, begged God to let him return.
The other two, in their earthly form, gave in to lust and fell from grace.
Thus God revealed to the other angels the superiority of the devout.

How Can One Attain Purity

Since man is made of clay, he can never be completely pure.
Since clay is basically foul, how can humans escape their basic nature?
Purity does not lie in rituals, nor can human nature be changed by effort.
Those who love God and remain conscious only of their Beloved attain purity.
